Two Author Speaking Events: Raising Sexually Healthy Children
Monday, May 6: 12-1 & 6-7 pm in the Teton County Library

Please join the Teton County Library, Raising Girls (a program of GAP!), Teton Behavior Therapy, and Teton County Public Health in welcoming parenting educator Debra Haffner to Jackson, as she offers invaluable practical advice, sample conversations, and inspiration for parents wanting to raise sexually healthy children. The Reverend Debra Haffner will present at two events and speak on topics from two of her best selling books for parents. These events are free and open to the public.

The first event, on May 6, from 12-1 pm, is suitable for parents of toddlers through middle school. Parents will hear Debra speak from her book, From Diapers To Dating, as she talks about sexual messages in the media, facts of life, and a values-oriented approach to raising sexually health children. Free child care at the Teton County Library is available during this event.

Debra Haffner is an an AASECT certified sexuality educator, who has written written two award-winning books for parents: From Diapers to Dating: A Parent’s Guide to Raising Sexually Healthy Children and Beyond the Big Talk: Every Parent’s Guide to Raising Sexually Healthy Teens. Haffner also authored Bisexuality: Making the Invisible Visible in Faith Communities, with Marie Alford-Harkey. This book was published in 2014.

Reverend Haffner’s 2nd talk, from 6-7 pm on the same day, will be geared towards parents of middle school through high school teens, as she speaks on topics from her book, Beyond the Big Talk. She will give tips for guiding your teen through the difficult adolescent years, when teens are faced with peer pressure, dating, alcohol, drugs, harassment, pressure to have sex, and many other issues.
